Eligible Students:
Any public school student classified as a 11th-12th grader for SCN program and 9th-12th grade students for ECC and accepted by a post-secondary institution. The combination of high school and college courses must be equivalent to that of a full-time student.
Start By Planning:
Your decision to participate is an important one. You will be expected to be a responsible, self-starting, independent learner. Students who pursue SCN/ECC must meet all graduation requirements to earn their high school diploma. Students must meet with their counselor before beginning the SCN/ECC process.
How To Participate:
Inform your counselor/application: You are requested to meet with Mrs. Seipp prior to October 1st for spring semester or March 1st for fall semester to get application materials.
Meet with Counselor/Parent: Make an appointment with your parent(s)/guardian(s) and Mrs. Seipp to complete a parent/student contract for SCN/ECC prior to the deadline listed above.
Complete Forms: You will need to complete and sign the application form. Your parents signature is also required on these forms.
Courses and Credit
Choosing Courses: When selecting courses, be sure you have exceeded all options at HHS. Work closely with your counselor and Mrs. Seipp to choose appropriate courses. You may choose any electives you desire. You may take up to two courses per semester not to exceed 18 credits total during your high school career.
Receiving College Credit: Credits received from a post-secondary institution are recorded on your transcript and will affect your GPA. If students continue their education beyond high school, colleges or universities may choose to transfer their completed coursework through ECC/SCN as college credits.
Withdrawl or Failure: If you withdraw from a course, let the post-secondary instiution and your high school know right away. You are subject ot hesame procedures as any other high school student when it comes to withdrawing from a course or failing a course. If you fail the course or withdraw after the deadline you are responsible for the full tuition cost.
Transportation: You and/or your parents are responsible for transportation to and from the post-secondary institution.
Applications for enrollment for obtaining high school credit in these courses must be made by March 1 for the fall semester of the following school year, and by October 1 for courses to be taken during the spring semester of the following school year.
