Hello and happy Fall! Welcome back to school! Below is a digital copy of the syllabus your student received in choir and should be bringing home to get signed! The sheet is due at the end of the week (September 13th, 2019)!
Choir Syllabus
HMS student and classroom expectations: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe!
Respect:
Responsible:

Arrive in the classroom on time. Please do not hang out in the hallway blocking traffic.

Come prepared for class. Please bring a pencil and eraser.

Follow directions the first time they are given
-
No gum, food, or beverage (besides water in a sealed water-bottle)
-
Absolutely NO use of cell phones or other electronic devices (calls, texts, internet usage). You get one warning to put it away, and then it is confiscated.

Take responsibility in remembering your voice lesson time (7th and 8th Grade)

What organizational methods will you use to remember?

Alarm on your phone

A friend to remind you

Writing it in your planner
Safe:

Incase of emergency, listen to directions and remain calm

Enter and exit the room in an orderly manner

Sit in your assigned seat

Unless instructed otherwise, do not touch items in the room
Grading and Assignments: You will be graded on:

In-class participation

In-class effort & attitude

In-class assignments (occasional)

Attendance at choir concerts and festivals

Attendance/participation at weekly voice lesson

Room 114 is a place where we are going to take risks and do some scary things, please be respectful of those around you.

Treat your folders, music, pencils and anything else you use with value.

Performances:

Veteran’s Day Program, 8th grade only (November 11th, 2019 at 9am)
-
Fall Concert for 6th and 7th grade (November 11th, 2019 at 6pm for 6th and 7pm for 7th)

Winter Concert (December 16th, 2019)

WSMA Large Group Festival for 7th/8th grade (March 17th, 2020 for 7th Grade, March 19th, 2020 for 8th Grade - out of school)

Spring Concert (May 19th, 2020)
Additional opportunities: Participation in WSMA Solo & Ensemble festival in February. Students may sign up to sing a solo or put together a group to sing an ensemble piece (2-9 students in a group). ~ 7th and 8th grade only.
