Teacher - Science Email Phone: 608.526.3372 Hi, I’m Andrew Bradford, a science teacher at Holmen High School. I grew up in Marinette, WI, about an hour north of Green Bay, home of many passionate Packers fans, myself included. My passion for science led me to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Psychology and later completed my Master’s degree in Biology. During graduate school, I taught introductory biology labs myself and also assisted professors at UWL. My scientific interests include birds, mammals, insects, evolutionary biology, and effectively communicating scientific ideas. I completed eduCATE-WI’s Project Teaching program for my teacher preparation.
I started working at Holmen High School in Fall 2022. Though not originally from Holmen, I’ve come to call it home and care deeply about the community and want to spend my whole life in this area. Family is central to my life, especially spending time with my wife. I also enjoy audiobooks and podcasts about chess, football, history, science, languages, and economics.
In the classroom, I focus on engaging the whole class along with supporting individual learning. Viewing lessons from the student perspective helps work towards more effective learning. To review biology concepts, I even sing a unique parody song for each unit. I strive to help students see the world differently by understanding the deeper “how” and “why” of life’s processes. My goal is for students to succeed academically, think critically, and grow within our classroom community. My students have described me as hardworking, respectful, funny, creative, organized, and kind.
