Teacher - ELA Interventionist Email Phone: 608.526.3391
I am the writing interventionist at Holmen Middle School and have been teaching in Holmen since 2011. Prior to teaching in Holmen, I was a 7th grade reading teacher at a middle school in Las Vegas, NV for five years. I received my undergraduate degree from Michigan State University. I also have a master's degree in literacy and an education specialist degree in teacher leadership.
I grew up as a child with a father in the military, so we moved around a bit. I enjoyed being exposed to different cultures, people, and places that many kids do not always get the opportunity to do. I've lived in Louisiana, Michigan, Guam, New Mexico, North Dakota, Nevada, and now Wisconsin. As a teenager, I had the opportunity to be an exchange student with a family in Japan. That was an experience of a lifetime! As an adult, I would love to go back and experience life in Japan through a different lens.
My parents live in Michigan's upper peninsula and my brother and his wife live in Denver, Colorado. We travel to Michigan often as it is not too far away and all of my family and my husband's family is from that area. During the summers, we go on a road trip to Colorado to visit my brother, Jeff, and his wife, Lindsay. We all love Denver and had a wonderful time visiting and going to fun places around the Denver area and in the Rocky Mountains.
I love to read, and stick to mostly science-fiction/fantasy novels. My favorite books are The Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Game of Thrones series, and every once in a while, a classic like Pride and Prejudice. Spending time with my daughter, Irelyn, is my favorite thing to do. She is a cheerful, adventurous, funny, and kind little girl. She recently took up ballet dancing, so I am excited to watch her dance. We like to craft together, so I have many projects around our house. We also like to have picnics in the park, play games (I'm trying to get her to play baseball! Go Detroit Tigers!), and read. Finally, I enjoy being around friends and family talking, shopping, sitting around a campfire, boating, and playing games.
