We have an Orchard!

60 apple trees were generously donated to the Nutrition Services Department back in 2018. The orchard site is near Viking Elementary, located on the highest point of the old cross-country course. The orchard became an outdoor learning lab for our students in the Agriscience Academy for a few years. At the end of 2022-23 school year, the Orchard was officially named the Dave Shefelbine School District of Holmen Learning Orchard. This fall (Sept. 2023) 5th grade students who also planted the apples at Viking Elementary assisted in harvesting the apples. These will provide Holmen students fresh apples for our lunch rooms!

FFA members from the Agriscience Department, along with the magnificent Roger King, Michael Gasper and Orchard specialist Dave Shefelbine were instrumental in getting this project going.
