A Brief Background
Voters in the School District of Holmen approved a technology referendum in April 2015 allowing every middle and high school student access to a device through the 2018-19 school year. A 2019 referendum provided five years of additional technology funding, ending summer 2024. This funding is currently being used in part to continue the District's 1:1 program. We are grateful for the 2022 referendum support to sustain ongoing technology and maintenance in the District.

Device Protection Plan
The District self-operates a Device Protection Plan (DPP) in which families can opt to pay a per-student annual fee to protect their child's 1:1 Chromebook. The fee covers certain repairs necessitated by accidental damage. It also covers replacement of the Chromebook due to theft. Plan limits and restrictions apply. More information on the Device Protection Plan can be found in the 1:1 Program Handbook. Participation in this program is entirely voluntary and requires the student/parent/guardian to opt-in in order to activate coverage. The opt-in can occur during the annual registration process facilitated online, where families can elect to pay the optional fee. The protection plan can be opted-into at other times of year by contacting the school office. Should you choose to decline DPP please complete the on-line form.
The Device Protection Plan fee for coverage during the 2024-25 school year is $35 per student/device. Payment of this fee covers the device for the duration of the school year and following summer, or through the date of a student's graduation or departure from the District, whichever comes first. Fee rates are determined annually based on forecasted repair volume and cost of parts; they've gone up and down in the past from year to year. The District strives to offer families the lowest fee possible while allowing the Device Protection Plan to remain viable.
