The Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 are federal laws that address the rights of individuals with disabilities. IDEIA is a federal funding statute that provides limited financial aid to states to ensure adequate and appropriate services for children with disabilities. Section 504 protects the rights (prohibits discrimination) of individuals with disabilities in programs and activities (such as the School District of Holmen-SDH) that receive federal financial assistance from the U.S. Department of Education. For more information about Section 504, please contact the Director of Student Services or your child's School Counselor.
