The School District of Holmen is a sales tax-exempt entity. While some vendors/suppliers honor our status without documentation, other vendors/suppliers require documentation before allowing sales to be tax-exempt. The information below, and corresponding documents, are intended to help meet vendor/supplier needs for documentation on the School District of Holmen’s tax-exempt status.
All vendors/suppliers should recognize the School District of Holmen’s tax-exempt status and waive the tax on qualifying sales. Be aware, there are some “sales” not exempt from paying taxes. The School District of Holmen would not be exempt from special county, city or other state sales taxes. Tax Exempt Cover Letter (WI) – A cover letter that outlines the School District of Holmen’s Tax-Exempt Status that can be provided to vendors/suppliers along with other supporting documentation for special pricing and sales tax-exempt status.
The Wisconsin Sales & Use Tax Certificate of Exempt Status (CES) document shows the School District of Holmen’s CES Number as documented at the Wisconsin Department of Revenue.
Federal Identification Number (IRS Letter) – A copy of the correspondence from the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) outlining the general information about the tax treatment of governmental units.
The Wisconsin Sales & Use Tax Exemption Certification (S-211) authenticates the School District of Holmen’s continuous tax-exempt status as a Wisconsin Public School. The certificate should be provided to vendors/suppliers to show the School District of Holmen classified as a Governmental Units and Other Exempt Entities and exempt for Wisconsin sales tax.
School District of Holmen - Taxpayer Identification Number (W-9) – A vendor/supplier of goods or services may require a completed W-9 Form from the School District of Holmen. Please provide the attached W-9 to meet the request of the vendor/supplier.
New Vendor - Taxpayer Identification Number (W-9) – The Department of Treasury IRS W-9 Form (Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification) is used by the School District of Holmen in the set-up of new vendors. New vendors should complete a W-9 and forward to Business Services. Payments to new vendors may be delayed until the W-9 is on file.
