The Wisconsin Uniform Financial Accounting Requirements (WUFAR) manual presents a uniform financial and accounting structure for public elementary and secondary schools in the state of Wisconsin. It replaces the Wisconsin Elementary and Secondary School Accounting System (WESSAS) Handbook last updated in July of 1992.
Information is available at the Department of Public Instruction, describing the allowable Account Classifications for: Balance Sheet Account Classifications, Revenue Account Classifications and Expenditure Classifications.
At the website a WUFAR word document has a table of contents with quick links set up so that you may quickly move through the document to a particular page. Accessing a page in the document simply requires you press down the 'Ctrl' key and click on the page number identified in the table of contents. This will move you forward to that page without having to scroll through the entire document.
The website also offers a three-part webcast series designed for individuals who are not familiar with Wisconsin school district financial accounting and reporting. The presentation will briefly walk through the dimensions and account format of the Wisconsin Uniform Financial Accounting Requirements, known as WUFAR.
